LyondellBasell Global Care Day Renews Commitment to Community

JACKSON, TN. – Sept. 12, 2018 – LyondellBasell Jackson Plant employees and their families renovated the Salvation Army playground as part of their Global Care Day efforts. Now in its 19th year, the event encourages LyondellBasell staff around the world to collectively participate in community service projects.

“This project was especially heart-warming to participate in because it benefits so many local children,” said Rebecca White, Jackson Plant site manager. “Our employees are always excited to help, but at the end of the day when we stepped back after a hard day’s work, it was well worth our efforts to see kids have the opportunity to get outside and play.”

LyondellBasell’s Jackson Plant volunteers made improvements on the playground by replacing the swings, painting the playground equipment and benches, mulching, planting trees and performing various landscaping activities.

All supplies and equipment were provided by LyondellBasell.

“Global Care Day is one of our facility’s favorite events and we devote hours to planning and organizing before we ever pick up a hammer or paintbrush,” said Terry Spears, volunteer coordinator. “We can provide so much manpower and expertise and help an organization that would ordinarily need weeks and a lot of extra funding to do the same type of work that we accomplished in one day.”

Over the past 19 years, approximately 30,000 LyondellBasell employees and their families have donated more than 190,000 volunteer hours in support of their communities on Global Care Day.
