The LyondellBasell Chocolate Bayou Polymers Plant is one of the few in the United States that uses horizontal loop reactor technology to produce High Density Polyethylene (HDPE). HDPE is used to create a variety of products which includes construction and roofing materials, food packaging, personal care products, and conduit piping.

The Chocolate Bayou Polymers Plant is an integral part of the local economy. The plant provides good paying and stable jobs in which workers live and shop in the local area for goods and services. Property taxes paid by LyondellBasell help support the local schools and government services. The plant also supports the community through donations to organizations such as Alvin ISD, Danbury ISD, Liverpool Food Pantry, Alvin Community College, and Danbury Police Department.

The safety of the community, our operations and our employees is a primary focus. The plant aims for zero injuries, zero process safety incidents, zero product safety incidents, zero environmental incidents and zero plastic pellet loss to the environment. The LyondellBasell GoalZERO standards apply to all employees, contractors and suppliers performing work at the sites.
