The LYB La Porte site produces Vinyl Acetate Monomer, Glacial Acetic Acid, Methanol, Ethylene, Propylene, Linear Low Density Polyethylene, Low Density Polyethylene and High Density Polyethylene. These chemicals are used to create a variety of products which include toys, retail carry-out bags, paints, coatings & adhesives, food packaging, wire & cable coatings and automotive safety glass. In addition, LYB selected this location as the first Hyperzone HDPE production unit, which utilizes proprietary technology and began operations in 2020.
An integral part of the regional economy, the La Porte site provides good paying and stable jobs while workers live and shop in the local area for goods and services. Property taxes paid by LYB help support the local schools and government services. In addition, the La Porte site supports the community through donations to organizations in the LaPorte area.
The safety of the community, operations and our employees is a primary focus. The La Porte location aims for zero injuries, zero process safety incidents, zero product quality incidents, and zero environmental incidents. GoalZERO standards apply to all employees, contractors and suppliers performing work at the sites.
To support sustainability, the La Porte site established a site-wide recycling program in 2023, which was led by a committee of local zone champions.
