The Mont Belvieu Storage Facility is part of LyondellBasell Equistar Pipeline operations in the Texas Gulf Coast region. Located on the Barbers Hill salt dome, one of the largest in the United States, the site benefits from a formation discovered in 1902 that spans more than two miles and contains roughly 120 caverns. Covering 42 acres, the facility offers significant capacity for liquid hydrocarbons, with potential storage of about 14.5 million barrels. This volume equals approximately 609 million gallons or enough to fill 900 Olympic-sized swimming pools. Ten wells at Mont Belvieu provide about 9.3 million barrels of active storage.

Operations are monitored around the clock from LyondellBasell's Clear Lake control center in Houston, which manages pumps, compressors and valves remotely to ensure safe and efficient flow. The center also maintains advanced communication systems to coordinate with the public and emergency responders whenever necessary.
