LYB and exoIQ collaborate on material solutions for industrial wearable exoskeletons

October 07, 2026

ROTTERDAM, Netherlands, Oct. 7, 2026 — LyondellBasell (NYSE: LYB) and exoIQ are collaborating on advanced material solutions for exoIQ’s B900 active back exoskeleton, a wearable system that supports users during physically demanding activities.

Drawing on capabilities from its Advanced Polymer Solutions and Olefins and Polyolefins businesses, LYB provides an integrated portfolio of materials for the application. Glass fiber-reinforced polyamide delivers mechanical strength and dimensional stability, polypropylene supports impact resistance, processability and lightweight design and masterbatch solutions provide consistent color and appearance.

“This collaboration demonstrates the value of bringing together materials and expertise from across LYB,” said Frank Noeltgen, vice president of Advanced Polymer Solutions Europe at LYB. “By working closely with exoIQ, we deliver an integrated solution that meets the application’s structural, performance and design requirements. The collaboration reinforces our role as a trusted innovator and full solutions provider.”

The B900 active back exoskeleton provides support during physically demanding activities such as lifting, carrying and working in a forward-leaning position. By helping reduce physical strain and effort, the wearable solution can make demanding everyday tasks more manageable for workers in logistics, production and skilled trades.

“The B900 requires materials that balance strength, durability, lightweight performance and design,” said [Dr. Bernward Otten, founder and managing director, exoIQ. “The breadth of the LYB portfolio and the team’s material innovation approach help us identify complementary solutions for different components of the system.”

Through this collaboration, LYB connects expertise across its businesses and translates customer needs into comprehensive material solutions that enhance the performance and design of the complete application.
