ROTTERDAM, 19 March 2024 – The LyondellBasell site in Astorp, Sweden, which produces color masterbatches, proudly announces a significant achievement in its commitment to environmental stewardship. The company has successfully attained the Operation Clean Sweep (OCS) Europe certification, becoming the first OCS Europe certified site in the Nordics.
Commenting on this remarkable milestone, Jonas Luckmann, Site Manager of the color masterbatch site, Astorp, stated, "We are thrilled to be recognized as the first OCS Europe certified site in the Nordics. The certification comes as a result of an external audit conducted by DNV, a renowned global quality assurance and risk management company. This accomplishment aligns seamlessly with the company's strategic goal to "create solutions for everyday sustainable living."
The OCS Europe certification underscores the company’s dedication to environmental stewardship, waste reduction, and responsible plastic management. Operation Clean Sweep is an international program designed to help companies in the plastics industry prevent pellet, flake, and powder loss by ensuring that such materials are handled with care to prevent their release to the environment.
With this milestone, LyondellBasell sets a benchmark for other companies in the region to follow suit and embrace similar practices in their operations.
Upon receiving the OCS certificate for the Astorp site, LyondellBasell now has four certified sites under its umbrella, the remaining three being Bayreuth and Münchsmünster (Germany ) and Tarragona ( Spain). Furthermore, two more sites are in the process of certification.
