As a Responsible Care® Company, we are committed to promoting a comprehensive approach to chemicals management and sustainability in all aspects of our products’ life cycles, including design, manufacturing, distribution, use, recycling and disposal activities. Throughout the life cycle of our products, our goal is to minimize risks to our employees, communities and the environment.
Our commitment to responsible chemicals management is implemented globally through our well-established Product Safety and Stewardship Program. We evaluate the chemicals we use and produce, assess potential risks and implement risk management plans.
The LYB product safety team includes a wide range of experts in chemical and end-use regulations, product stewardship, toxicology, risk assessment and hazard communication. This team ensures that LYB materials are compliant with regulations and safe for their intended use. Our product stewardship program is an integral part of and fundamental to how LYB creates solutions for a better tomorrow.
Our approach to product safety encompasses the value chain from evaluation of raw materials to rigorous testing of finished products and technical assistance and training for customers and distributors. We also work with customers to identify solutions that enhance recyclability including conducting product safety assessments and testing.
We collaborate with industry leaders and other stakeholders to improve global chemicals management.
Our products meet and often go beyond applicable regulations, standards and guidelines. These include:
- Adopting the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS)
- Conducting risk assessments of substances against applicable chemical control regulations, and the EU Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) regulation where no local chemical control frameworks apply
- Contributing to Global Framework on Chemicals - For a Planet Free of Harm from Chemicals and Waste | UNEP - UN Environment Programme
