Operations & history

Located in Pasadena, Texas, Bayport Polymers is a leading producer of polypropylene and advanced polyolefin resins. Our products are essential for food packaging, automotive components, medical devices, and household goods. With approximately 375 employees and contractors, we operate with a strong commitment to safety, sustainability, and community partnership.

Bayport Polymers has a rich legacy of innovation dating back to 1974 when Hercules products were first produced on A-Line. Over the decades, the site evolved through key milestones:

  • 1983: Formation of HIMONT through Hercules and Montedison joint venture
  • 1994: Montell created from Montedison and Shell joint venture
  • 2000: Basell formed from BASF and Shell joint venture
  • 2007: LyondellBasell established through merger with Lyondell Chemical Company. Today, Bayport Polymers operates four production lines and ships approximately 30 rail cars daily to serve global markets.
