Operations & history

Channelview North is part of the LYB Channelview Complex, one of the largest petrochemical facilities on the Gulf Coast. Located near the Houston Ship Channel, the complex has been a cornerstone of the North Channel community since 1957. Channelview North specializes in producing olefins such as ethylene, propylene, butadiene and benzene, which serve as essential building blocks for plastics, synthetic rubber and chemical intermediates.

These materials are used in packaging, automotive components and construction products that support modern life. Operations at Channelview North began in 1957 with the original butadiene unit and alkylation facilities. Over time, the plant expanded significantly, adding Olefins I in 1976 and Olefins II in 1977. These expansions positioned Channelview as a major contributor to the petrochemical industry along the Gulf Coast. Today, Channelview North continues to play a critical role in supplying raw materials for downstream manufacturing.
