Protecting our environment
Channelview Complex, which includes Channelview North, Channelview South and Houston Technology Center, is committed to minimizing environmental impact through rigorous compliance and continuous improvement. We operate under multiple air, water and waste permits for each site.
Our sustainability efforts include optimizing energy use and advancing technologies that lower greenhouse gas emissions. These initiatives align with the LyondellBasell global commitment to responsible manufacturing and environmental stewardship.
Active monitoring and transparency
We actively participate in the Houston Regional Monitoring program, which tracks air quality and provides data to the public. In addition to regional monitoring, Channelview conducts its own air monitoring through a dedicated onsite team. This team works continuously to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and to operate safely. These efforts reflect our commitment to proactive environmental management and accountability.
Sharing environmental performance
We share our environmental performance with the community through the Community Advisory Panel Lyondell Equistar (CAPLE) and other external presentations. These forums allow us to provide updates on environmental initiatives, compliance status and sustainability progress, reinforcing transparency and trust with our stakeholders. Other resources for the site’s environmental performance include Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
