Connected to our community

We're proud to be part of the North Channel community — volunteering at local events and working with schools, chambers and community groups. These connections help us understand what matters to our neighbors and strengthen the support we provide.

We value open conversations and welcome questions, ideas and concerns. By listening and responding with care, we aim to build trust and stay connected to the community we serve.

Building strong relationships

We actively engage with local stakeholders through our Community Advisory Panel Lyondell Equistar (CAPLE) which fosters dialogue and transparency on operations, policies and projects. This group was formed in 1991, and provides a platform for community members, regulatory officials and elected representatives to share perspectives and ask questions. This open communication helps build trust and strengthen relationships between all sites located at Channelview Complex and its neighbors.

We also maintain strong ties with local organizations. The complex is a member of the North Channel Chamber of Commerce, Crosby-Huffman Chamber of Commerce and the Channelview ISD Foundation Board, as well as other community groups that support education, economic development and social progress. Community members can reach out to the CAPLE coordinator for questions or meeting details via email at CAPLEFacilitator@gmail.com.

In addition to CAPLE, our outreach includes partnerships with local school districts, chambers of commerce and community organizations. Employees volunteer at science fairs, robotics competitions, STEAM events, and participate in programs that encourage education and workforce development. Seasonal initiatives such as holiday gift drives and back-to-school supply programs are part of our commitment to meeting community needs.

Volunteerism and corporate citizenship

Through the LYB Advancing Good program, we invest in projects that promote education, social progress and sustainability. Employees dedicate time and resources to local programs, helping make the North Channel area a better place to live and work. These efforts reflect our belief that being a responsible neighbor means listening, responding and contributing to the needs and well-being of the communities where we operate.

Community connection

We listen and engage with Channelview and surrounding communities on events, efforts and concerns that matter most.
