The Bayport Choate site in Pasadena, Texas is the world's largest facility producing propylene oxide and tertiary butyl alcohol. Our products serve industries including automotive, personal care, paints and coatings and gasoline components. With approximately 485 employees and contractors, we are committed to operational excellence, safety, sustainability, and being a responsible neighbor to our surrounding communities.
Bayport Choate has played a leading role in the petrochemical industry for more than five decades. The site began operations in 1969 with the start-up of Bayport I, pioneering the production of propylene oxide and tertiary butyl alcohol using the iso-butane hydroperoxide process. Bayport II followed in 1971 and Bayport III in 1974, expanding our capabilities and reinforcing our position as a global leader. In 2022, we added the RTBE plant, further strengthening our portfolio and commitment to innovation. Today, the site spans 280 acres and operates 24/7 to meet the needs of customers worldwide.
