Jeffrey Kaplan is executive vice president for legal and public affairs at LyondellBasell, one of the world’s largest plastics, chemicals and refining companies.
Mr. Kaplan joined LyondellBasell in 2009 as deputy general counsel and became general counsel in 2015. He also has responsibility for the company’s government relations, corporate communications, and real estate & facilities functions.
Mr. Kaplan was elected to the American Law Institute (ALI) in 2019. He is a former chairman of the Texas General Counsel Forum and former director of the Houston Bar Foundation. He is a life fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and the Houston Bar Foundation.
Prior to joining the company, he served in a variety of leadership roles at Chevron Phillips Chemical Company, including deputy general counsel. Previously, he was in private law practice in Houston, Texas. Mr. Kaplan earned a bachelor of science from Amherst College and a Juris Doctor from the University of Texas School of Law.
