ROTTERDAM, Netherlands, February 13, 2009 – LyondellBasell Industries announced today that the company will concentrate its distribution activities in Italy to Com-Ital and Ultrapolymers, which will serve as the official distributors of the company’s polymer products.
“Our company has had a long-standing and fruitful relationship with both Com-Ital and Ultrapolymers,” said Helena Huovinen, LyondellBasell’s Sales Manager for Distribution Italy. “Through this dual distributorship, we are able to reduce supply chain complexity for our customers, and to better serve our numerous small and medium-size customers.”
Com-Ital and Ultrapolymers Italy
Com-Ital, founded in 1971, is a family-owned company that has been a distributor of LyondellBasell and its predecessor since 1977. Due to its extensive knowledge in the Italian distribution market, the company operates as an essential part of LyondellBasell’s network in Italy. Ultrapolymers, founded in 2002, began distributing LyondellBasell’s resins in 2006, and also provides vital technical assistance to customers.
“With the support we are receiving from Com-Ital and Ultrapolymers, we can deliver high-quality polyolefins in the most efficient manner,” said Huovinen. The range of products offered by both companies will include, among others, the entire range of Moplen, standard polypropylene products as well as Lupolen and Hostalen polyethylene resins. Customers will also benefit from LyondellBasell’s specialty range that includes resins used in healthcare, caps and closures and injection stretch blow molding applications.
Products from LyondellBasell’s JV in Saudi Arabia
Along with the start up of two world-scale PE plants at SEPC, a Saudi Arabian based JV of LyondellBasell and local partners, additional polyethylene products will be made available for the Italian market during Q2/09. “With our extended asset footprint we are able to address customer needs timely and efficiently”, said Ruediger Klein, LyondellBasell’s Commercial Director for Distribution.
