Celebrating Excellence

When I think of excellence, I think of striving to be the best and delivering outstanding performance.  Every two years, LyondellBasell holds an employee awards ceremony to recognize and celebrate the positive business outcomes and teamwork behind our achievements. The EXCELLENCE Awards represent the highest honor an employee can receive from our company. The awards are given to individuals and teams who exemplify our company’s values of excellence, ownership, teamwork.

This year’s EXCELLENCE Awards were celebrated differently due to the global pandemic. Instead of the preferred in-person celebration, we recognized employees in a virtual ceremony. Over 100 nominations were submitted and reviewed by leaders within the company. The top projects were represented in eight categories, including Advancing Sustainability, Business Advancement, Community Engagement, Customer Service, Lifetime Achievement, Operational Excellence, Production Innovation and the CEO Award. I am extremely impressed by the many great accomplishments our employees achieved over the last two years.

I had the privilege of presenting the Lifetime Achievement award to three outstanding individuals - Harold Larson, Sr. Advisor Engineer, Bayport, Texas, Keith Vogel, Sr. Advisor Engineer, Bayport, Texas, and Paul Wiederholt, retired Principal Engineer, Clinton, Iowa. Combined, these three individuals have more than 120 years of experience and have spent much of their career at LyondellBasell, ensuring we consistently deliver industry-leading performance. Their legacy represents advancements in  technology, process safety improvements and mentoring of the next generation of employees.. It is only through dedicated and exceptional employees like Harold, Keith and Paul that we can achieve our vision of being the best operated, most valued company in our industry.

I am so proud of the great accomplishments of our colleagues. To work alongside a team that truly embodies excellence every day is a distinct pleasure . Thank you for advancing possible.

Congratulations,

Dale Friedrichs, Senior Vice President, Human Resources and Global Projects
