Polyols

LyondellBasell produces polytetramethylene glycol (PTMEG) from tetrahydrofuran (THF). PTMEG is used in the manufacturing of spandex fibers and specialty coatings and elastomers. LyondellBasell is the sole producer of SAA resinous polyols, which are high-Tg low-molecular weight, highly functional resins. SAA polyols are performance modifiers for thermosetting urethane and melamine coatings to improve their appearance, durability and chemical and corrosion resistance. SAA polyols are also useful as polyol starters for the production of low-viscosity alkyd resins for low-VOC, fast drying, durable coatings.
