LyondellBasell Announces New High Stiffness Polypropylene Grade for Metallized BOPP Film Applications

September 01, 2016

ROTTERDAM, Netherlands, Sept 1, 2016 – LyondellBasell (NYE: LYB), one of the world's largest plastics, chemical and refining companies, today announced the addition of Adstif grade HA716J to its comprehensive polypropylene product portfolio. The new high stiffness, homopolymer grade is produced by the LyondellBasell Geelong Polypropylene plant in Australia and is typically used by customers in Bi-axially Oriented Polypropylene (BOPP) metallized film, lamination film and compounding applications.

Adstif HA716J is the next evolution to the BOPP grade range and reflects our ability to offer regional solutions to our global customer base,” said James Harrington, Marketing Manager for LyondellBasell Australia. “Customers report that the high stiffness allows for down-gauging, improved water vapor transmission rate performance, better hot-fill performance and improved metallization barrier levels.“

Adstif HA716J also complements the recently developed Adstif HA3105 produced in Europe, allowing LyondellBasell global customers to source comparable grades at a regional level.
